Software development and test automation, from $95/hr

Senior help for a small software team or a business shipping an app. Maybe it needs the tests it never set up, a backend built properly, or a chore that should run itself.

Three ways to work together

  • QA and test automation

The work our founder did for four years, now offered directly. Test automation means scripts that re-check the software every time it changes, so a broken screen shows up before a customer finds it.

For a team that ships without tests, or has tests nobody trusts. Most start with an audit: a written report on what's tested, what isn't, and what to fix first.

    $110–$140/hr · audit $1,500 flat

  • Software and app development

Backends on Supabase and Postgres (the database and the rules on who can see what), mobile apps in React Native, and security reviews of what is already built.

For a startup or a small business with an app to ship. A large build starts with a paid discovery sprint that ends in a written spec and a fixed price, credited to the build.

    $95/hr · discovery sprint $750

  • Workflow and business automation

The chores that should run themselves: a file for the accountant, a copy of your data on a schedule, a supplier's price sheet read for you.

For any business with a job it repeats by hand. You get a fixed price after a one-hour call, and once it's paid for the automation is yours.

from $600, then $30/mo to watch it

The record behind it

The QA career: checkable

Tyler Hardiman spent four years as a QA automation engineer at NAVEX, a compliance platform used by more than 13,000 companies. Promoted from Software Engineer QA to Associate Senior Software Engineer QA. He cut a full re-test of the product from about two weeks to under one, and owned the checks that decided whether a release shipped.

This site is tested the same way every night, and the results are public: see this site's automated checks.

The builds: Tyler's own, no client references yet

Chasing Tens is his flagship: a mobile app he built alone, from the database to the tests, behind a build that fails below 98% test coverage. QR Studio, a QR code maker that turns one spreadsheet into hundreds of codes, is the smaller one.

Both are his own projects. No software client can vouch for us yet, which is why development starts at a lower rate than QA.

How it works

  1. A small first step

An audit or a discovery sprint at a fixed price, so you see our work before you commit to a build.

  2. A price in writing

Fixed prices for defined work, the hourly rate for open-ended work. Half at signing, the rest when we deliver.

  3. Yours to keep

The accounts and the data stay in your name from the start. The code we write for you is yours once it's paid for, and our own tools inside it are yours to use, for your business, forever.

What we don't do

  • Native iPhone or Mac apps, yet. We do test on the iPhone's browser, but that's QA, not app-building.
  • A result we don't control. The work and the date are promised; rankings, traffic and revenue are not.
  • Machine learning or computer vision as a service. It's a proof point in Tyler's own app, not work we sell.

Tell us what you're building

A few lines are enough. We'll write back with what we'd do first and what it costs.
