1. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out a contact form or email us, we collect what you choose to send: your name, email address, phone number if you include it, your company, the content of your message, and anything else you provide. If you use the package builder on the Website, we also collect the business details you enter, such as your business name, type and town, whether you already have a website and a logo, the package and add-ons you choose, and your answers to the builder's questions.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Website, limited technical information is collected:

  • Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly service that does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. It gives us aggregate figures such as page views and general location, not information that identifies you personally.
  • Server and security logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and timestamps, used to operate the Website, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.
  • The search box. When you use the search box, we keep the words you typed, the page you typed them on and the services we showed, with no name, email, address, device details or cookie attached, so we can see what people look for and improve the answers.
  • Signing an agreement. When you sign an agreement on our signing page, we record your typed name, the time, and the internet address (IP address) and browser you sign from, and keep that record with the agreement.
  • Forms and links. When you send us a message, a package request or your before-our-call answers, or open a signing or payment link, we keep a scrambled form of your internet address, to limit repeated tries from one sender, and clear it within 3 days.

2. Cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum. Our analytics does not set cookies and does not follow you across sites. The site remembers two kinds of things, both only in your own browser: your choice of light or dark display, if you pick one with the toggle, and, while the tab is open, your answers in the package builders (and the invoice number on the pay page), so going back or reloading loses nothing. The answers are cleared when you close the tab. Neither is a cookie, and nothing is sent to us until you press Send. If we ever add a cookie, we will describe it here first.

3. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • respond to your inquiry and provide the information or services you ask about;
  • operate, maintain, and improve the Website;
  • protect the Website's security and prevent abuse; and
  • comply with our legal obligations.

For visitors in regions that require a legal basis for processing (such as the EU and UK), we rely on your consent, our legitimate interest in running and improving our business, and, where applicable, legal obligations. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

4. How we share your information

We share personal information only in these limited ways:

  • Service providers. Companies that help us run the Website and our business, such as our hosting and infrastructure provider (Cloudflare), our form and database provider (Supabase), our email services (Resend, which sends and receives the Website's email, and Google Workspace, which holds our inbox), and GitHub, which runs some of our business tools and stores some of our records for us. They may process your information only to provide services to us.
  • Payments. When you pay an invoice online, Stripe handles your card or bank details and we never see them. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to that payment.
  • Legal reasons. When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of FDM Software Labs or others.
  • Business transfer. If the business is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

5. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, including responding to you and meeting ongoing business or legal requirements. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. Package requests and contact-form messages are kept while we are in conversation with you and for up to 12 months after our last contact, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Deleted information can remain in our encrypted backups for up to 90 days; a restore brings back only what a backup holds. If we ever restore a backup, we delete again what you asked us to delete.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you have a concern about the security of your information, contact us right away.

7. Your rights and choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information you have given us, and you can ask us to stop contacting you. To do any of these, email us using the details below. Residents of some regions, including the EU, the UK, and California, may have additional rights over their personal information; if you are one of them, contact us and we will honor the rights that apply to you.

8. Children's privacy

The Website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Links to other sites

The Website may link to third-party sites we do not control. This Policy does not cover their practices, and we are not responsible for them. Review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

10. Changes to this Policy

We review this Policy regularly and may update it. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. If the changes are material, we will make that clear on this page.
